"මධුර ජවනිකා" යනු ප්රවීණ නාට්යවේදී දයානන්ද ගුණවර්ධනයන්ගේ අසදෘශ නාට්ය කෞශල්යය විදහාපාන, ශ්රී ලාංකේය වේදිකා වංශකථාවේ අමරණීය සංගීතමය දෘශ්ය කාව්යයකි. අනුරාධපුර යුගයේ සිට පෘතුගීසි, ලන්දේසි හා ඉංග්රීසි විදේශීය ආක්රමණ හමුවේ ලාංකේය සමාජීය, ආර්ථික සහ සංස්කෘතික පරිණාමය සිදුවූ ආකාරයත්, නූතන මැදපෙරදිග රැකියා වෙළඳපොළ දක්වා සමාජ රටාව වෙනස් වූ අන්දමත් ඉතා තියුණු උපහාසයෙන් හා සංවේදී බවින් යුතුව මෙම නාට්යය හරහා දිගහැරේ. ජන සංගීතය, නාඩගම් හා කෝලම් ශෛලීන් මෙන්ම බටහිර සංගීත ආභාසයද මනරම් ලෙස මුසු කරමින් නිර්මාණය වූ "මධුර ජවනිකා", අතිශය ජනප්රිය ගීත රාශියකින් සහ ප්රවීණ රංගන ශිල්පීන්ගේ විශිෂ්ට රංගනයෙන් පෝෂණය වූ, ප්රේක්ෂක හදවත් තුළ නොමැකෙන මතක සටහන් තැබූ අසමසම වේදිකා නාට්ය නිර්මාණයකි.
