The Chamber Music Society of Colombo, in association with the Goethe-Institut, invites you to an exploration of the seldom-heard.
On Monday, March 23, at 7:30 pm, at the Goethe-Institut Hall, the Society’s principal players will assemble to breathe life into two distinct masterpieces of the chamber repertoire.
The evening commences in 17th-century Italy with Arcangelo Corelli’s Sonata da Chiesa in D Major, a cornerstone of the Baroque era defined by its graceful, interwoven melodies. The journey concludes in the refined courts of Prussia with the Piano Quintet in C Minor by Prince Louis Ferdinand. This evocative work bridges the worlds of Mozart and Beethoven, offering a rare encounter with the "Composer-Prince’s" uncommon musical legacy.
From the architectural brilliance of Corelli to the vibrant Beethovenian intensity of Prince Louis Ferdinand, this program reflects the CMSC’s enduring mission to revive the hidden gems of the classical canon.
This performance is held in memory of Frances E. Jayasinghe & Herbert W. Peris.
Our Performers: Johann Peiris, piano. Lakshman Joseph-de Saram, violin I. Sulara Nanayakkara, violin II. Avanti Perera, viola. Aviva Segall, cello.
The CMSC extends its gratitude to Asia Securities, Baur & Co., Tokyo Cement Group, and The Malinee Jayasinghe-Peris Trust for their continued support.
